OMG
I just got the letter from KCLS. I had decided that they hated me at my skills assessment and that this must be a "so sorry" letter. But no! I got into the pool and I got a rating of 3.326/4, which I am assuming is good--but you know what they say about assuming...
I had also decided, since I was sure they didn't want me, that I didn't want them either. Clusters-bah! Now I am not so sure. It is definitely nice to have some extra options.

KCLS as in King County Library? That is exciting! My very first job (it wasn't paid, so I don't know if it counts) was labeling and stickering books at the Fairwood Library. They gave me a mug when I left for a paying job. I was the tender age of 15!! Wow, now I feel old and underpaid. Sheesh.

KCLS is bunk, man. I got into the pool in January of this year (with a high score) and haven't heard anything from them. Stay @ SPL! We are so neat! Also no clustering, which seems, to me, very hellish.

dear New Librarian.
I am not sure if you knew that Ursula LeGuin was at The Seattle Public Library a few weeks ago to accept an award. She gave a beautiful speech and I thought you might like to see it: http://www.ursulakleguin.com/MCGrayFellowship-Speech.html

I agree with Jen that I don't want to work at KCLS--I really love SPL. But I am temporary and when things hit the fan, I may end up applying anywhere I can.

Oh, and Deborah thank you so much for the link to the LeGuin speach. I look forward to seeing it--I have seen her before and I always enjoy her talks.
